A Father's Love

Theme: Father's Day
Object: Tootsie Rolls
Scripture: How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are!  1 John 3:1a

In the late 1800’s a man named Leo Hirschfield moved to the United States. He brought with him a recipe for chewy chocolate candy. He would make the candy, sit and cut it into pieces, and roll each piece in a paper wrapper for his little daughter. It took lots of time for him to do this. Why would he do this? Because he loved his little 5 year old daughter and she liked it that way. Fathers will do many things for their children because of their love for them.

We have a heavenly Father who loves us so much and does many things for us. He gives us beautiful sunshine. He sends rain so plants grow and we have food to eat, He sends us many blessings. He loves us so much, He even sent Jesus to die for our sins so that we could have eternal life.

Mr. Hirschfield really loved his daughter. He eventually made and sold his candy for 1 cent a piece. He named his candy after his daughter, Clara, whose nickname was "Tootsie." We still like to eat tootsie rolls today.

Our heavenly Father loves us even more than Mr. Hirschfield loved his daughter!! Let’s remember to thank Him for His great love
