We Are Made in God's Image

Theme: Living a life close to God
Object: Silly Putty and newspaper - preferably the Sunday comics
Scripture: Then God said, "Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; and let them rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky and over the cattle and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth." Genesis 1:26 (NASB)

I used to love to play with Silly Putty when I was a kid. You can roll it into a ball and bounce it. You can stretch it way out. But let me show you what we used to love to do with it. If I hold this silly putty right here (a few inches away from the newspaper) I can make the image come right off of the page. NO. that won't work, will it? But if I press this silly putty right up to the picture watch what happens. Now you can see the image on the silly putty.

If we only know God from a distance and never get close to Him people will never see God in us. But if we live our lives close to God, doing the things the Bible tells us then people will see God's image in us.

The Bible tells us that we are made in God's image and that is what we want people to see.
