Sermon Title: "The Wind in Your Socks"

Scripture Reading: Acts 2:1-21

WINDSOCK CRAFT: To find complete instructions on making a windsock CLICK HERE.

WINDSOCK RELAY: Divide the class into two teams. Let children each have a windsock and take turns RUNNING to the other side of playing area and back for the next player to do the same. Encourage children to run as fast as they can to keep the windsock full of air, as well as to win the relay.

AIR CONTROL: Let all the children take turns blowing light weight objects across a table, or all the children can spread out across the room and every child can get down on hands and knees and blow their own cotton ball or toothpick across to the other side of the room and see who wins the AIR CONTROL.

BALLOON AIR BOPPING: Each child can be given a balloon to blow up and tie the end. Then when the teacher/leader says to BEGIN, the children have to try and keep their balloons up high and off the ground by only BLOWING wind at the balloon to stay high, but not touching the balloons. Putting a couple of fans on the floor and letting children see how the balloons keep up off the floor, will help explain today's lesson as well.

"FILLED WITH HOLY SPIRIT" BALLOONS: Give each child a balloon and every time the teacher says, BLOW, the child will try to blow a little air into the balloon. Continue to let children blow air and explain that we can be filled with the Holy Spirit, but when the children are told to let go of their balloons and let them fly, they will deflate and be useless, just as we are without the Holy Spirit to guide and comfort us!

WINDSOCK ART: Provide children with construction paper of two different colors. One piece of construction paper will be rectangular that the children will write words from today's Bible lesson, such as Holy Spirit, God, comfort, guide, wind, etc. Then glue another piece and color of paper along the long side of the rectangle paper and cut slits in that paper. Bring the two sides of the first sheet of paper around and tape or glue it together to form a wind sock. Let the children tie a string or ribbon to the top and run around a designated area with their windsocks to see what the AIR does holding them up.

HOLY SPIRIT BANNER: Let children work together as a class or make individual banners.Children can be given a long piece of butcher paper, or something similar, and write each thing that the Holy Spirit does, in a different bright colored marker. Let children see the list from our lesson today as they work on this project. If children work together on a larger classroom banner, then each child or group of children could draw and decorate ONE of the things that the Holy Spirit does and tape their part of the project to the classroom poster board banner. Some children could draw a dove or oil for the banner as well, as symbols of the Holy Spirit.

VICTORY VISOR: Give children poster board or heavy stock paper to cut out a traced visor in the shape of a half moon or similar to a boomerang. Children can decorate with markers and happy face stickers to make their VICTORY Visor with words from today's Bible lesson on the Holy Spirit, etc. Hole punch each end and children will string stretchy lace through one hole and over to the other hole and tie in knots. Children can then wear their visors to tell today's story to others.

SING A SONG: SPIRIT OF THE LIVING GOD; MY GOD IS SO GREAT; I'VE GOT PEACE LIKE A RIVER

SHARE A SNACK: The teacher can have small candy snacks inside of balloons that the children will break the balloon for, to find their snack; or the teacher can just make a sheet cake and decorate with a big frosting gel pen for a windsock and words from today's lesson. Ice cream can be served with the cake, of course!!! :-)
