Life's Most Important Decision

Noted investor and all-around rich guy Warren Buffet offered one BILLION dollars to anyone who could perfectly predict the entire 2014 NCAA men’s basketball tournament bracket. The odds of doing that are 1 in 9 quintillion. So, it’s pretty safe to say that Mr. Buffet didn’t have any worries here. In fact, half way through the third round (of six) of the tournament there were no perfect brackets left. In Mr. Buffet’s estimation 63 perfect decisions (what it takes to have a perfect bracket) is worth $1B! What if I could tell you about just one decision that you could make today that is worth MORE than a billion dollars? Look at Joshua 24:15. It says there that if I will choose (another way of saying “make a decision”) to serve God today that that decision will have eternal consequences for me and for my family. Wow! Did you know that the most valuable thing we have in this life is time? It’s true. We can make an unwise spending decision with money and then earn more money later to make up for it. But if we make an unwise decision with how we spend our time, we can NEVER get that back. Time is the most valuable thing we have. So, how much is a day worth? It’s worth a lot! But let’s just say, for the sake of argument, that a day is worth only $1. If I decide to follow Jesus as Lord and Savior, what will happen to me when I die? That’s right! I’ll go to heaven. And when I go to heaven, how long will I be there? That’s right! I’ll be there forever....even more than a billion days! And if I’m there for more than a billion days, and a day is worth only $1, that means that my single decision today to follow Jesus is worth more than a billion dollars! I realize that 63 perfect decision to earn $1B is very tempting. But you can make a single decision today that will result in even more than that. I encourage you to make that decision today!
