A copy of Robert Ripley's "Believe It or Not." You should be able to find a copy in some form at the public library or a bookstore. If not, you can use the examples in the sermon without a copy of the book. There is also a Ripley's "Believe It or Not" comic strip online. (See Resource below)

Hi friends! Do you like surprises? *clap hands* Today we have a BIG surprise story about Jesus!
Jesus had friends called disciples. One friend was named Thomas. Thomas liked to see things with his eyes before he believed them. Do you like to see things too? *point to eyes*
One day, Jesus' friends saw something AMAZING! They saw Jesus! He was alive! They were so happy! *jump up and down* But Thomas wasn't there. He missed it!
When Thomas came back, his friends said, "Thomas! Thomas! We saw Jesus! He's alive!" But Thomas said, "I don't believe it....

A whole week went by. One... two... three... four... five... six... seven days! *count on fingers* Then Jesus came to see ALL his friends, even Thomas!
Jesus showed Thomas his hands. "Look, Thomas! It's really me!" Thomas looked with his eyes. *point to eyes* Thomas touched with his hands. *wiggle fingers* "It IS Jesus!" Thomas said. "Jesus is alive!" *clap hands*
Jesus was happy. He said, "Thomas, you believe because you can see me. But some people will believe even when they can't see me. Those people are very special!"
That's us! We can't see Jesus with our eyes, but we know He loves us. We know Jesus is alive! We believe it in our hearts! *pat heart*
Jesus loves you SO much! Even though we can't see Him, He's always with us. Always! *give hugs*
Let's pray: Dear Jesus, thank You for loving us. Help us remember You are always with us. We love You! Amen.

I'm stuck in deciding if or which activities to use. They are either very challenging for K-2 or very simple for 3rd-5th graders. However, I really like the intro to the lesson with the Ripley's anecdotes. I am going to also have students tell a hard to believe, but true story.
This is my first week as a trial member. I printed out the lesson. It's easier, for me, to have a paper printout so I can highlight or X out what I feel led to teach. I just got back from the library with a Ripley's book. Great idea! I love the supplies list where I can cross out what I'm not using. Who knew teaching Doubting Thomas could be so fun?!?
