Eternity

Eternity means forever – no beginning and no end. It's hard for our brains to understand because everything we know has a start and finish. Your favorite TV show has episodes that end. School years begin and finish. Even the longest summer vacation eventually ends. But eternity never ends. God created us as eternal beings, which means when our bodies die here on earth, our souls continue living forever. The big question is: where will we spend that forever?

This is where Easter becomes the most important event in all of human history. Before Jesus came, people were separated from God because of sin. Sin is like a huge wall between us and God – we couldn't climb over it, go around it, or break through it on our own. No matter how good we tried to be, that wall remained. But God had a plan.

On the first Good Friday, Jesus didn't accidentally get caught up in events. He wasn't an unlucky victim. Jesus deliberately chose to die on the cross. He said, "No one takes my life away from me. I give it up of my own free will" (John 10:18). Think about that – Jesus, who had the power to call down angels to rescue Him, chose to stay on that cross. Why? Because He knew it was the only way to tear down that wall of sin between us and God.

Here's what makes this even more amazing: Jesus didn't stay dead. On Easter Sunday, He rose from the grave, proving He had power over death itself. This means death isn't the end for those who believe in Him. When we accept Jesus as our Savior, we're guaranteed eternal life with God in heaven.

Let's think about some big questions: If you knew you were going to live forever, how would that change how you live today? Would you treat people differently? Would you make different choices about what's important? Arthur Stace understood that eternity changes everything about how we see this life. When you realize this life is just the beginning, it helps you focus on what really matters – your relationship with God and how you love others.

This Easter, don't just think about Jesus dying and rising again as something that happened long ago. Make it personal. Jesus didn't just die for "the world" – He died specifically for you, knowing your name, your struggles, your dreams. He secured your eternal future because He loves you that much. God offers eternal life as a free gift – you can't earn it by being good enough, but you can receive it by believing in Jesus and accepting Him as your Savior.

Your life becomes a way of writing "Eternity" for others to see – showing them through your actions and words that there's hope for forever life with God.

Dear LORD, thank You for sending Jesus to be our Savior by dying on the cross for us. Thank You that Jesus chose to give His life so we could have eternal life with You. Help us to live today knowing that eternity is real and that You have made a way for us to spend forever with You. Help us share this amazing news with others. We ask this prayer in Jesus' name. Amen.
