Have you ever looked through old photo albums or videos of yourself when you were a baby? Maybe your parents showed you pictures from when you were born, or videos of your first steps? I bet your parents were so excited and proud! They probably thought you were the most amazing baby ever born.

But here's something interesting to think about: even though your parents loved you as a baby, they didn't want you to stay a baby forever, did they? They wanted to watch you learn to walk, talk, read, ride a bike, and become the amazing person you are...

today. Growing up is part of God's plan for us!

Baptism is kind of like taking that very first baby picture, but for our spiritual life. When someone gets baptized, they're showing that they want to follow Jesus and live as God's child. It's like being "born again" spiritually! Just like when Jesus was baptized, God the Father was so proud that He said from heaven, "This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased" (Matthew 3:17).

But here's the challenge: God doesn't want us to stay spiritual babies forever. Just like you wouldn't want to still be crawling around in diapers at your age, God wants us to grow stronger in our faith every day. Think about it - you can do so many things now that you couldn't do as a baby. You can read the Bible, help others, make good choices, and stand up for what's right.

So what does it mean to grow spiritually? It means learning more about God through reading the Bible and praying. It means treating others with kindness and forgiveness, even when it's hard. It means being honest, helpful, and brave enough to do the right thing even when your friends might not understand. It means using your talents and abilities to serve God and help others.

Some people get baptized but then never really grow in their faith. They're like someone who stays a baby forever - God still loves them, but He knows they're missing out on the amazing adventure of growing closer to Him. God wants each of us to become mature, strong Christians who can make a real difference in the world.

Think about this: What are some ways you've grown physically since you were little? Now, what are some ways you could grow spiritually this year? Maybe by memorizing Bible verses, serving in your community, or learning to pray for others who are hurting.

Dear Lord, thank You for loving us from the very beginning of our faith journey. Help us not to stay spiritual babies, but to grow strong and mature in our love for You. Show us how to use our growing faith to help others and make our world better. Help us become the kind of Christians You can be proud of. Amen.
