We are called to be separate from the world
Object:
A clear bottle with a top, water, vegetable oil, food coloring. Fill the bottle about 1/3 full with water, and add enough brightly-colored food coloring to make it readily visible. Add vegetable oil until the bottle is about 2/3 full. The oil will float on the water, but when the jar is shaken vigorously, the oil and water will appear to become one. But, if left to stand for a brief period of time, (about 30 seconds) they will separate again.
Scripture:
They are not of the world, even as I am not of it. As you sent me into the world, I have sent them into the world. John 17:16,18 (NIV)
Jesus Loves Me!
Look at this bottle! It has water and oil inside. See how they stay apart? The water is here, and the oil is there. They don't mix together!
Now watch! I'm going to shake it up! Shake, shake, shake! Look! Now they look mixed up together!
But wait... let's watch and see what happens. Look! They're going back to being separate again! The water stays with the water, and the oil stays with the oil.
You know what? Jesus wants us to be like this water! We live in the world with lots of people. But Jesus wants us to remember...

Just like the water stays water, you stay God's special child! You can play with your friends. You can go to the store with Mommy. You can go to the park. But you always remember - Jesus loves you!
When someone is mean, you can still be kind. When someone won't share, you can still share. That's how you show Jesus' love!
Let's pray: Dear Jesus, help me remember you love me. Help me be kind and loving like you. Amen!
