Jesus Goes to a Quiet Place (Mark 1:9-13)
Do you remember when Jesus got baptized? John put Jesus in the water. God said "I love you, Jesus!" A dove came down from heaven!
After Jesus got baptized, what do you think happened next? Jesus went to a very quiet place. It was called the wilderness. The wilderness is like a big, empty place with no houses. No stores. No playgrounds. Just rocks and sand.
Jesus stayed in this quiet place for a very long time. Forty days! That's like... one, two, three, four... lots and lots of days! While Jesus was there, mean...

There were wild animals in the wilderness too. Like lions and bears! But don't worry - God's angels took care of Jesus. Angels are God's helpers who keep us safe.
Why did Jesus go to this quiet place? Jesus needed to talk to God. He needed to pray. He needed to get ready for his big job - helping people and telling them about God's love!
Sometimes we need quiet time too! When we pray, we can talk to God just like Jesus did. We can say "Thank you, God!" We can say "I love you, God!" We can ask God to help us be good.
Jesus loves us so much! He went to the quiet place to get ready to help us. Let's thank Jesus for loving us!
Dear God, thank you for Jesus. Thank you that Jesus loves us. Help us to pray and talk to you too. We love you! Amen.
