After six days Jesus took with him Peter, James and John the brother of James, and led them up a high mountain by themselves. There he was transfigured before them. His face shone like the sun, and his clothes became as white as the light. Just then there appeared before them Moses and Elijah, talking with Jesus. Matthew 17:1-3 (NIV)
Do you like to watch people play in the snow? There are special games called the Olympics where people slide down big snowy mountains really, really fast! They go whoosh down the mountain! It's so much fun to watch!
Sometimes we have the best day ever and we don't want it to end. Like when you go to the park or have a birthday party. You want to stay and play more and more!

When they got to the top, something amazing happened! Jesus started to glow like a bright, bright light! His clothes became white and shiny like lightning! Wow! Then two special men from heaven came to talk with Jesus.
Jesus' friend Peter was so excited! He said, "Jesus, this is the best! Let's stay here forever and ever! Let's build houses and never leave this mountain!"
But Jesus knew they couldn't stay on the mountain forever. Jesus had very important work to do. He came to show everyone how much God loves us. Jesus loves you so, so much!
God gives us happy days too! When we love Jesus, every day can be a happy day. We can talk to Jesus anytime we want. We can sing songs about Jesus. We can be kind to others because Jesus loves us!
Dear God, thank you for happy days. Thank you for Jesus who loves us so much. Help us love you every day. Amen.
