God sends his Holy Spirit on the day of Pentecost
Object:
A portable electric fan with some bright red streamers tied to the guard.
Scripture:
When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place. Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting. They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them. All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them. Acts 2:1-4 (NIV)

Look at this fun fan! When it's hot, a fan helps us feel cool. The fan blows air. Let's turn it on! Can you see the air? No! But we know it's working!
See these pretty red ribbons? The air makes them dance! We can't see air, but we can see the ribbons move. Dance, ribbons, dance!
Put your hand up! Do you feel the air on your face? The air feels cool! We can't see air, but we can feel it. Feel the air!
Listen! Do you hear the fan going whoosh? We can't see air, but we can hear it. Say...

Today is a special day called Pentecost! Jesus' friends were all together. God sent the Holy Spirit to help them tell everyone about Jesus!
Jesus' friends couldn't see the Holy Spirit. But they knew He was there! How did they know?
First, they heard a big whoosh sound! Like our fan! The Holy Spirit sounded like wind. Whoosh! They couldn't see Him, but they could hear Him!
Next, they saw pretty fire on their heads! Like our red ribbons! The fire didn't hurt. It was God's special sign. They couldn't see the Holy Spirit, but they could see the fire!
Then, they felt the Holy Spirit's power! He helped them talk in new words so everyone could hear about Jesus! They couldn't see the Holy Spirit, but they could feel His help!
The Holy Spirit is with us today too! We can't see Him, but He's here! He helps us every day. He loves us so much!
Dear God, thank you for the Holy Spirit! Help us listen to Him every day. We love You! Amen.
