Again he said, "What shall we say the kingdom of God is like, or what parable shall we use to describe it? It is like a mustard seed, which is the smallest of all seeds on earth. Yet when planted, it grows and becomes the largest of all garden plants, with such big branches that the birds can perch in its shade." Mark 4:30-32 (NIV)

Look at this tiny seed! It's so small! Can you see it? This little seed is called a mustard seed. It's one of the smallest seeds ever!
What happens when we plant this tiny seed in the dirt? It grows! And grows! And grows! It becomes a big, big plant! So big that birds can sit on it. So big that birds can make their homes in it!
Jesus told us a story about this tiny seed. Jesus said the kingdom of God is like this little seed. It starts very small, but it grows...

When Jesus lived on earth, He had no friends at first. Then He found one friend. Then two friends. Then more and more friends! His kingdom started small, but it grew bigger and bigger!
Look at this apple! Inside are seeds. One, two, three, four, five seeds! If we plant these seeds, they grow into apple trees. One tree can make lots and lots of apples! Maybe one hundred apples! Maybe two hundred apples! That's a lot of apples!
Jesus wants His kingdom to grow too. You are part of God's kingdom! I am part of God's kingdom! When we tell our friends about Jesus, God's kingdom grows bigger!
Let's pray together: Dear God, thank You for Jesus. Help us tell our friends about You. Help Your kingdom grow big like the mustard seed! Amen.
