What Are You Worth?

whole world - and lots of collectors want it, the price goes way up. If I find a Michael Jordan rookie card in perfect condition, I might be able to sell it for thousands of dollars because someone values it that much. But if nobody wants my common cards, they're only worth fifteen cents each.

Now here's a question that might surprise you: How much are YOU worth? If we're talking about the chemicals in your body - the calcium in your bones, the iron in your blood, the carbon in your muscles - scientists say that's worth maybe a few dollars. Not much, right? But just like these baseball cards, you are worth whatever someone is willing to pay for you.

Here's the amazing part: Jesus looked at you and decided you were worth everything He had. The Bible tells us in 1 Corinthians 6:20, "You were bought at a price." What price? His life. Jesus didn't pay with money - He paid by dying on the cross so that our sins could be forgiven and we could have a relationship with God forever.

Think about this: if someone offered you a million dollars for your best friend, would you sell them? Of course not! That's because people aren't for sale - they're priceless. But Jesus willingly gave up His life because He saw something in us that was worth that ultimate sacrifice. Even when we mess up, make bad choices, or feel like failures, God says we're still worth dying for.

Sometimes you might feel worthless - maybe when you don't make the team, fail a test, or feel left out by friends. The world might tell you that your value depends on how you look, how smart you are, or how popular you are. But God's love isn't based on your performance. Romans 5:8 says, "But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us." He loved us before we even knew Him!

This means that no matter what happens in your life, you have incredible worth because God chose to pay the highest price possible for you. You're not just valuable - you're priceless in God's eyes.

Lord, when we feel worthless or when the world tells us we're not good enough, help us remember that You thought we were worth dying for. Thank You for showing us our true value through Jesus' sacrifice on the cross. Help us to see ourselves and others the way You do - as precious and loved. Amen.
