Sermon Title: "Tell Your Friends about Jesus"

scripture Reading: John 1:43-51

PAPER CHAIN RELAY: Divide the children in groups to sit around a table with paper strips cut to make a paper loop chain. The children will write the name of a friend name on each loop and make a long chain in the time that the teacher designates. See which team can have the longest paper loop chain in that time allowed. Tell the children that we should tell all of our friends about Jesus!

BEAD BRACELETS: The teacher will provide letter beads for the children to make a bracelet that says JESUS LOVES ME. The children will be encouraged to give the bracelet to another child who needs to know about Jesus.

FOLD OUT FRIENDS: The teacher will hold construction paper vertically and fold it accordion-style into thirds. Draw the outline of a person's body and let the children can cut this 3 fold person out to make 3 friends, making sure they do not cut on the fold so that the friends stay joined together. (If they do cut it wrong they can always tape the friends together.) Across the bodies of the friends, have the children write, "Tell a friend about Jesus."

FRIENDS MOBILE: Give the children a sheet of construction paper and markers to draw and cut out a cloud with the title of today's lesson written across it. Small hearts of various colors can hang from the cloud of friends, with ribbon or strings. Each heart should have a friend's name on it and decorate or color the cloud and the hearts. Hang in the classroom for use during prayer time and to encourage children to remember their friends who need Jesus.

FRAMED BIBLE VERSE: Provide children with two pieces of construction paper of different colors. Make a frame and write the words "Nathanael said unto him, Can there any good thing come out of Nazareth? Philip said unto him, Come and see." Children can hang this up at home with a string/ribbon, or a magnet for their refrigerator.

INK PRINT FRIENDS: All the children can be given the colorful ink pads and paper to make finger prints and then decorate each "print" with eyes and happy faces (or arms and legs as a person), to see how many "friends" they can decorate their paper with in the time allowed. If children would like to, they can draw a house, or church, trees, flowers and such, with markers.

INVITATION BOOKMARKS: Have each child can make a book mark with words from today's lesson (JESUS LOVES YOU, TELL OTHERS ABOUT JESUS, JESUS BRINGS HAPPINESS, etc). They can decorate this bookmark with stickers and colorful markers. Encourage children to give this bookmark to a "friend"!

SHARE A SNACK: Decorate cookies for a friend; or make a goody bag of small treats for a friend. And yes, of course, children can make one for themselves!
