Noah Builds an Ark

Sermon Title: "A Plan for Success" (Noah builds an ark)
Scripture Reading: Genesis 6:9-22; 7:24; 8:14-19
ANIMAL MASKS:
Let children cut out the middle section of a paper plate and draw themselves an "animal plate" to wear as a mask. Children can have fun with either climbing inside a big box as the ark, or can sing or make animal sounds.
ARK TOSS:
Teacher can have a large cardboard box decorated like an ark and cut holes in the "ark". Children can take turns tossing small stuffed animals or toys into the holes and talk about the animals that went into the ark, as part of GOD's PLAN!
ARK ANIMALS PANTOMIME:
Children children choose a name from an ark-basket and try to pantomime the animal that they chose. Talk about the animals that went into the ark.
PIN ANIMAL ON THE ARK:
Let children make sticker or magazine animals on a piece of construction paper and cut out. Then each child can take a turn, blindfolded, in trying to tape their little animal sticker, etc on the ark on the wall.
ANIMAL ARK MATCHING:
Have small plastic animals mixed up in the ark box that the teacher has decorated ahead of time or let children decorate a small box like the ark. Then children can take turns finding a matched-pair of some animal and put them into the newly decorated ark-box.
"ARK AND RAINBOW" CREATION:
Cut a paper plate in half and decorate the bottom section to look like an ark with windows and sticker animals. Decorate the top portion of the paper plate to look like a rainbow and write GOD'S PROMISES on the rainbow portion and write GOD'S PLAN on the ark portion. Glue to construction paper or poster board.
PAPER PLATE ARK:
Let children cut a paper plate in half and staple or tape together with a string or ribbon for a handle. Let children put small slips of paper in the "paper plate ark" that will have God's "promises" and God's Plans written on each slip of paper, as the teacher tells the lesson. (for younger children, the teacher can have the slips of paper already prepared before class, but for older children, they could write out the plans and promises as the lesson progresses.)
PLAY DOUGH ANIMALS:
Let children use their creativity in making animals out of play dough while the teacher shares today's lesson. A large brown ark could be available for the children to set their play dough animals on when completed!
"ANIMAL CRACKER" TREATS:
Let each child make 2 identical small arks and tape together and let the children put some animal crackers in the 'ark pocket" for their treat today. Discussion about the animals that went into the ark and that being part of God's plan!
ARK ART:
Teacher can have a very large brown poster board ARK drawing on the wall. Let children write the title such as GOD HAS A PLAN, or WE PUT OUR TRUST IN GOD, etc. Children can each draw a "pair" of animals on that ark if desired.
