Sermon Title: "Delivering the Good News" Scripture Reading: Matthew 9:35-10:8 |
GOOD NEWS FLOWER POTS: Let children plant a small flower in a mini pot and glue a small piece of paper on the pot or attach it with a pipe cleaner and stick the note in the dirt. The note will say - THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN IS NEAR.... SPREAD THE GOOD NEWS, etc. Encourage children to share their potted plant with someone. DELIVER THE GOOD NEWS: Let children make scrolls or banners rolled up that will say THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN IS NEAR, or SPREAD THE GOOD NEWS OF GOD'S LOVE, etc. Let children deliver a banner to each Sunday School classroom during their S.S. hour. The other classes (all ages) will enjoy receiving their banner/scroll and reading it during their class!! For extra fun, children could pass out candy GOOD NEWS CANDY: Let children write a small note about today's lesson (with Bible verse, or the prayer, etc) and attach with a string or yarn to a piece of candy. Encourage children to share that candy GOOD NEWS with someone else. Children can also enjoy a piece of candy for themselves, if desired!! TRACT ART: Give children supplies to make their own tract to give out to someone else during the day or this week! Encourage children to decorate and put in BOLD PRINT about today's Bible verse or the GOOD NEWS, or the prayer for today, etc. (colored papers, stickers and markers will make the tract more exciting to read). GOOD NEWS STAND: Let children make some GOOD NEWS tracts and a large sign (this sign can say, "GET YOUR GOOD NEWS HERE"), and set up a small table (stand) to set up at the door of the church or auditorium, for children to stand by as people are entering the worship service. Encourage children to smile and give each person who passes, a tract and a piece of candy, if desired! TRAVEL "GOOD NEWS" WALK SIGNS: Before class, the teacher can put signs around a designated area and have children take a GOOD NEWS WALK to hunt for the signs. When they return to class with their signs, they can tape them to various places on the classroom wall. (Signs can say, HEAL THE SICK, RAISE THE DEAD, CLEANSE THE LEPERS, CAST OUT DEMONS, PREACH THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN IS NEAR, etc.). Let children tell today's Bible story once again in their own words and using their signs on the wall! "GOOD NEWS" NEWSPAPER: Allow children to crinkle some white paper and write the GOOD NEWS on the front and on the back they can write some of today's lesson points and take their GOOD NEWS newspaper home with them to remind them to spread the GOOD NEWS! "GOOD NEWS" POSTER: Let children decorate and write points about today's lesson on a large poster board. (Ex: The Kingdom of heaven is near, Jesus heals the sick, raises the dead, cleanses the lepers, casts out demons, loves us and sent His Son, gives us life abundantly). If time allows, children could each take a turn at writing GOOD NEWS along the border of the poster - time after time until the border is covered with those words. Each GOOD NEWS could be in a different color to draw attention to the border!! Song: "Tell What He's Done for You" by Lizzie D. Armond & Andrew L.
