Sermon Title: "Only Believe"

Scripture Reading:  Mark 5:21-43

SICKY FREEZE TAG: The teacher appoint a "tagger" and all the children will spread out in a roped off or designated area. The children can run and try not to be tagged, but IF they are tagged, then they will lay down and be "sick". Continue to play until there are many sick and then choose another "tagger" if time allows and play again.

SICK RELAY:
Divide children into groups of 3, or into teams, as desired, depending on the number of children. The children can run relays with 2 children carrying a third child to the finish line, or with several children carrying another teammate in a sheet, where 4 children or leaders are lifting up each corner of a sheet, to run to the finish line.

ONLY BELIEVE BALLOON POPPING
: Divide the children into 2 teams. Each team will be given blown up balloons that have one letter on a tiny piece of paper, inside the balloon. The teacher will have 11 balloons and one of the 11 letters from ONLY BELIEVE in each balloon. The teams will pop all their balloons and take out the letters and tape onto a poster board for each team. The team who pops the balloons the quickest and gets all 11 letters on the poster board in the correct order, first, are the winners!! TEACH AND SING.. "ONLY BELIEVE" with the children sitting ina circle. If the teacher chooses to have children clean up the balloons, just tell the children to see which team can clean up their balloons the quickest. :-)

FIRST AID SUPPLIES: Give children a First Aid Kit to open and use on each other. Tell children that someone in our Bible lesson today was very sick and died. Children will enjoy investigating the first aid supplies.

JUST BELIEVE: Cut out letters for JUST BELIEVE and glue the letters onto paper. Decorate with glitter and stickers. Write Mark 5:36b

BANDAGE STICK EM’S: Give children bandaids to form a CROSS. Write WITH GOD, ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE.

STORY TELLING: Have someone come in to class as Jairus’ daughter and tell today’s Bible story in the 1st person, as if SHE was telling the story. She could dress up in a robe and a head wrap to tell the story! She could let children ask questions at the end and recite the Bible verse with the children!

SICK CHILDREN: Let children take turns laying on the floor and acting “sick” or other ways of needing medical help. Other children can help and say “healing words” and pray for the sick one. Make sure all children get a turn.

FIRST AID MEMORY TRAY: Prepare a tray of medical first aid supplies for children to look at and try to “remember” what was on the tray. The teacher can remove the tray and have the children try to write down as many items as they can remember. If children are younger, they can work together to remember.

TRUE AND FALSE GAME: Divide the children into teams. Each team will think of statements from each player and the other team has to guess if their statement is TRUE or FALSE. Keep score and see which team guesses the most correct answers.

ONLY BELIEVE PICTURE: Children can draw a BED on a piece of paper. Draw a girl on another sheet of paper and cut the drawing in half, after cutting it out. Use a “brad” to place the girl in the bed so that she can sit up or lay down in the bed, as the story is told. The “brad” can be poked through the middle of the girl-drawing so the body can move up and down.

MEDICINE PRESCRIPTION: Provide a small bottle or medicine bottle for children. Have children write ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE IF WE ONLY BELIEVE IN JESUS, on a strip of paper that can be colored and taped to the outside of the bottle. Let children fill the bottle with M&M’s, if desired!

SING A SONG: ONLY BELIEVE

POWER SNACK: Provide children with a bottle of POWERade and a POWER bar, etc. Or children can TOUCH a snack in a bag and take the snack of their TOUCH choice.
