Sermon Title: "Are You Ready?"

Scripture Reading: Luke 21:25-36

ALARM FREEZING: Let the children run around a designated area and when they hear an alarm such as a whistle, horn, or something similar, the children must FREEZE in whatever position they are in. When the alarm sounds again - the children may resume running around again. Continue to play as time permits.

GET READY HUNT: The teacher will type today's Bible verse pieces of paper and hide the pieces of papers around the room. (Make sure you have as many papers as you have children.) When the teacher says, "GET READY, GET SET, GO!" the children wil then HUNT for the Bible verse and when they have found it, they will join the circle. When all have found the Bible verse, the teacher will begin teaching. (If some have trouble finding it, the teacher may give hints.)

STAND AND LOOK UP: Have all of the children sit in a circle on the floor. Tell the children to listen as today's Bible verse is read and to listen carefully for instructions as to what the Bible verse tells people what they should do when Jesus comes again and DO WHAT IT SAYS. When the "STAND AND LOOK UP" words are read, all the children to quickly STAND AND LOOK UP. The last one standing will move away from the circle and continue to play until the last one is left... and then have the children try to recite the Bible verse together.

COTTON CLOUDS: Give the children construction paper, cotton balls, and markers so that the may draw BIG clouds and glue pieces of pulled apart cotton balls around the edges of the clouds. In the center of the clouds, write BE READY FOR CHRIST'S RETURN on the clouds.

BE READY MOBILE: Have the children cut out four cloud shapes and glue a little cotton to the edges of the clouds. Have the children write BE READY on one cloud, WORSHIP on another, BIBLE STUDY on another, and PRAYER on another. Hang these clouds with a piece of string from a plastic hanger for the children to hang in their bedrooms or in the class room.

BE ALERT PANTOMIME: Tell the children to listen as you call out action words and have them pantomime the actions that match the words. Suggesions: KEEP WATCH (children should put their hand above their eyes as if looking for something; PRAY (children should bow their heads and fold their hands); BE STRONG (children should flex their muscles); STUDY GOD'S WORD (children hold their hands in front of them to simulate reading a book.)

ALARM CHALKBOARD FUN: Let the children stand in a line one behind the other. As the teacher sounds an ALARM, the first child will run to the chalkboard draw something relating to today's lesson such as a big cloud. When the alarm sounds again, the next child will come and draw something else relating to today's lesson such as big surprised eyes, a Bible, a church, etc. Continue until all the children have had a turn to chalk draw.

ALARM TREATS: Tell the children that whenever they hear two quick alarms or whistles at any time during class time today, they may quickly jump up and run to the candy basket and get ONE small treat from the basket.
