Sermon Title: "If You Love Me"

Scripture Reading: John 14:23-29

MOM SAYS GAME: This is played much like "Simon says game" but the leader will say MOM SAYS and give them something to DO that mom would normally ask them to do in order to obey. Children would then "pantomime" that action to obey, rather than stepping forward toward the leader. If MOM doesn't "say it", then they would stand still! (Ideas - MOM SAYS wash the dishes (children pretend; MOM SAYS make your bed (children pretend); jump on the bed (children stand still; stomp your feet (children stand still), etc.

TOP TEN HEARTS - Children can write one of the TOP TEN list from lesson on each heart (or post it notes) and give to MOM inside a decorated envelope with stickers, etc, to give to mom after the service. These can be given to mom to ask child to do that ACTION during the week.

FINGERPRINT ART for MOM - Teacher can have an inexpensive PURPLE inkpad available for children to put their THUMBS (or pointed fingers, but thumbs make a larger grape) on the inkpad and blot alot of their purple thumbprints on a piece of paper (in the shape of a BUNCH of grapes). (Make sure wet wipes are available to clean the thumb). Each thumbprint can have a little happy face drawn inside with a pen or a fine point marker. Teacher or child can then draw a green stem at the top with a leaf to look like a BUNCH of GRAPES. Children or teacher (depending on age) can write "MOM, I LOVE YOU A BUNCH"!!!

MOTHER'S DAY CARD - A tri-fold card could be made with little stick figures and on each tri-fold by that stick figure would be 1) bandaid (Thanks mom for taking care of me; 2) Penny taped to the 2nd trifold (Thanks mom for spending time with me; 3) piece of tissue (thanks mom for caring for me when I don't feel good). The tri-fold and the words and stick figures could be made ahead of time for younger classes and then those little ones could just tape on the items). If teacher or children would like to make another THUMB PRINT for the face of each stick character, it would make the card a little more unique!!!!!!!

ACTION OBEY POSTER - Decorate an OBEY poster with bright colors and happy faces and TOP TEN LIST around the edges with the Bible verse. Children can make their own poster to take home or they could make a large poster together for the classroom.

HEART COOKIES: Give each child a large, heart-shaped cookie to decorate with a little frosting and sprinkles to give to MOM after the class time. (Have some extra cookies to give to the children to enjoy during class for a treat).
