Children's Thanksgiving Sermon: Giving Thanks (Psalm 100:4-5)

How many of you know what this is? (Hold up the cornucopia.) It’s called a cornucopia. (Have children repeat the word.) We often see them this time of year filled with all sorts of foods like apples, oranges, grapes, squash, and corn.

A cornucopia is used as a decoration around Thanksgiving because it shows all of the good things we get to enjoy and give thanks for.

We have a lot to be thankful for, don't we? What are some of the things you are thankful for? (Allow kids to respond.)

Wow, we have so much to be thankful for! We can thank God for all that we have. The Bible tells us that every good and perfect gift comes from God.

When do you think we should say, "Thank you" to God? Should we have one day each year that we give thanks? Should we have one day each week that we give thanks? No! I think EVERY DAY should be a day of thanksgiving for all that God does for us. Don't you agree?

Let's stop right now and say thank you to God.

Lord, we thank You for all of the good gifts You give to us. Most of all, we thank You for Your love and for the gift of Your Son, Jesus. In Jesus' name we pray, amen.
