A portable stereo, also sometimes called a "boom box"
Escritura
"Yet for us there is but one God, the Father, from whom all things came and for whom we live" (1 Corinthians 8:6). "I and the Father are one" (John 10:30). "And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Counselor to be with you forever" (John 14:16).
I'm sure that all of you know what I have brought with me this morning. It is a portable stereo, but most people call it a boom box. Do any of you have a boom box? As you can see, I only have one boom box, but it is really three players in one. Let me explain what I mean.
First, my boom box is a radio. I can turn it on, push this button, and I can listen to the radio. My boom box is also a CD player. I can put in a CD, push this button and I can listen to the CD. Finally, my boom box is a tape player. I can put a tape in in this slot, push the play button, and listen to the tape. I only have one boom box, but it is three boom boxes in one!
How many Gods are there? That's right! There is only one God, but God is like my boom box, He is one God in three persons! Let me explain what I mean.
First, there is God, the Father. The Bible says, "There is but one God, the Father, from whom all things come." That is why when Jesus taught his disciples to pray, he told them to pray, "Our Father, which art in heaven."
Second, God came down to earth in human form to die on the cross for our sins. Jesus is God in a human form. He said so himself when He said, "The Father and I are one."
Finally, when Jesus told His disciples that He was going to return to heaven, He told them that the Father would send them a comforter and teacher to be with them forever. That is why God sent us the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is God with us today.
Just as I have only one boom box that is three players in one, there is only one God, but He is God in three persons! Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
Dear God, our Heavenly Father, our Savior, our Teacher, we praise you and worship you today. Amen.
