Sermon Title: "Who's Afraid of the Big, Bad Wolf?"

scripture Reading:  John 10:11-18

WOLF CHASING: Let children scatter to HIDE from the WOLF as "It". If the WOLF sees a "sheep" and starts to run toward that sheep, the "sheep" can try to run away and touch and stand by the GOOD SHEPHERD who can be in the middle of the playing area. Children are SAFE if they reach the GOOD SHEPHERD before the wolf catches them.

SHEEP'S VOICE GAME: One child (Who is the GOOD SHEPHERD and could wear a towel over the head to look like a "shepherd") can leave the room and the other children will pick 2 or 3 children who will be the SHEEP during the game. All the other children have to make OTHER animals sounds when the game begins. The SHEEP will baa-baa now and then when the "GOOD SHEPHERD" returns to the room and the Good Shepherd will try to decide WHO are the SHEEP. If he/she is correct, then that "sheep" becomes the GOOD SHEPHERD and will leave the room while the children decide who will be the Sheep during the next round of this game.

PLAY ACTING THE STORY: Let children act out the story while the teacher tells the story slowly with a "Wolf", "sheep", "Good Shepherd", Jesus and a hired hand. The teacher can have children change positions and even a narrator change and tell the story several times.

PUPPET STICKS: Give each child at least 2 large tongue depressors (or craft sticks). Glue cotton to the top of one stick to represent the sheep puppet and a brown cut out circle of a wolf head drawing, drawn by the child. Let other children use a candy cane to represent the GOOD SHEPHERD and take turns in telling today's story. Give each child a candy cane to represent the GOOD SHEPHERD that they should follow each day!

GOOD SHEPHERD POSTER: Give children supplies to cut out letters for J-E-S-U-S and glue onto another sheet of construction paper. Glue pieces of cotton balls around the edges to form the border and write THE GOOD SHEPHERD across the picture!

FOLLOW JESUS: Let children draw and/OR cut out little feet shapes. Glue the "feet" onto a piece of construction paper in the shape of a CROSS! Tell children how important it is to FOLLOW JESUS every day. Title their papers as FOLLOW JESUS EVERY DAY.

"FOLLOWING JESUS" IN CHALK: Give each child some sidewalk chalk to trace their feet and continue to draw pictures of feet in the SHAPE OF A CROSS, outside on the sidewalk, if that is available.(Children can work together to make one very LARGE cross, or individually to make their own feet cross. IF a sidewalk or a parking lot is not available, then children could take turns with various colored chalk to draw small feet in the shape of a CROSS on the chalkboard as well.

FOLLOWING JESUS CADENCE: Let children get into a line to follow the teacher around the designated area and repeat after the teacher: I LOVE JESUS YES I DO! I WILL FOLLOW HIM AND I'LL BE TRUE. JESUS LOVES TO HEAR ME SAY! THAT I LOVE HIM EVERY DAY! .... FOLLOW! FOLLOW...... JE-SUS!!!!!

CROSS CAKE SNACK: The teacher could make a large cross-shaped cake and frost it for children to have on the table during classtime and then eat their cake before leaving class, thanking JESUS for his Love for each child and asking GOD to help them follow Jesus this week!
