Game: "Jealousy Freeze Tag"

Description: This game is a fun way to help kids understand the concept of jealousy and how it can "freeze" us in our tracks.

Instructions:

  1. Choose one child to be "Jealousy" and another to be "Forgiveness."
  2. The rest of the kids spread out in the play area.
  3. "Jealousy" chases the other players, trying to tag them.
  4. If a player is tagged by "Jealousy," they must freeze in place.
  5. The "Forgiveness" player can unfreeze players by gently tapping them.
  6. The game continues for a set amount of time or until all players are frozen.
  7. Discuss how jealousy can affect us and the importance of forgiveness.

Craft: "Heart Giving Offering"

Description: Create a craft representing offering from the heart, emphasizing giving with love and sincerity like Abel.

Instructions:

  1. Provide each child with two paper hearts.
  2. On one heart, have the kids write or draw something meaningful they can offer to others or to God (e.g., kindness, helping, sharing).
  3. Decorate the heart using markers, stickers, and glitter to show the beauty of a sincere offering.
  4. On the second heart, let them write a way they sometimes feel jealous and how they can transform that into something positive.
  5. Have kids share their hearts with the group, if they feel comfortable, and discuss how giving from the heart can bring happiness.

Art Project: "Cain and Abel Storyboard"

Description: Encourage kids to create a visual storyboard of the story of Cain and Abel to help them understand the narrative better.

Instructions:

  1. Divide a large sheet of poster paper into four sections.
  2. Instruct the kids to draw four main scenes from the story, each in one section (e.g., Cain and Abel making offerings, God's preference for Abel's offering, Cain's jealousy, and the consequence).
  3. Use colored pencils, crayons, or markers for illustrations.
  4. Under each illustration, write a brief description of what happens in that part of the story.
  5. Once completed, let kids present their storyboards and discuss the story's key points and lessons learned about jealousy and forgiveness.

Role Play Skit

Description: A short skit that allows kids to act out the story of Cain and Abel to better understand the impact of jealousy and anger.

Instructions:

  • Assign roles of Cain, Abel, God, and a narrator.
  • Provide simple props like a basket for Abel's offering and a small bundle of crops for Cain.
  • Guide the children through the story, emphasizing the emotions Cain felt and the consequences of his actions

Fruity Offerings Snack

Description: This snack activity emphasizes the offerings Cain and Abel made to God. The kids will create their own "offerings" using fruits to understand the importance of giving our best.

Instructions:

  • Provide a variety of cut fruits such as apples, grapes, bananas, and strawberries.
  • Give each child a small plate to arrange their fruits as a "fruit offering."
  • Discuss how Abel gave his best to God and why it's important to give from our heart.
  • Allow the kids to share their "offerings" with each other and enjoy the fruits.
