Tithing Group Activities
Group Activities

1. Bible Verse Tithing Puzzle:

This group activity engages the children's critical thinking skills while reinforcing what the Bible teaches on tithing. Have the children work in teams of two and give each team a paper copy of the puzzle with Malachi 3:10-11 printed on it. Split the teams up so that one is the puzzle solver and the other is the verb caster - they help the puzzle solver by reading the Verse aloud and keep track of the tenses of the verbs. Once the puzzle is complete, have the children discuss the implications of tithing for their own lives.

2. Tithing Art Project:

For this activity, have the children create a painting or drawing that illustrates Malachi 3:10-11. They can use paint, colored pencils, markers, or other medium to create their masterpiece. Once the art is done, invite them to talk about how tithing reminds us of our need to honor and serve God.

3. Tithing Snack:

Have the children make a snack that incorporates 10% of each ingredient they use. For example, using 10 chips in a bowl to represent the 10% tithe or bake a cake using 10% of the ingredients. As the children enjoy their snack, you can talk to them about what it means to give 10% to God.

4. Tithe Memory Game:

Make a match game using flashcards that have tithing-related words written on them. For example, words like “offerings”, “generosity” and “blessings”. Have the children play with partners or in small groups and if someone finds a match, they say the Bible Verse. The first group to match all the cards and recite the Verse by memory wins.

5. Game: Toss the Tithe

Divide the group into two teams. Give each team two buckets and 10 coins or paper money that represent the tithe. Take turns tossing the coins or paper money into the buckets. The team that gets the most coins or paper money in the bucket within two minutes wins!

6. Craft: Tithe Jar

Provide each child with a jar or cup and some decorations. Have the kids decorate the jars and write “Tithe” on the outside. Explain that this jar will be used for their tithe to God. As they save up their tithe money they can add it to the jar.

7. Snack: Tithe Cookies

Make or provide cookies that look like coins. Give each child a plate with a few coins cookies. Ask each child to put 10% of the cookies aside for tithing. Have a discussion about the importance of tithing and how it is showing respect for God.
