Romans 5:3-5

What holiday is coming up this Thursday? That's right, it's Thanksgiving? What is your favorite part of Thanksgiving dinner? The turkey!  The stuffing!  Mashed potatoes!  Gravy!  Hmmm...that's funny...I don't hear my favorite. Do you know what my favorite part of Thanksgiving dinner is? The cranberry sauce!  Cranberry sauce is amazing stuff. It comes in two kinds, either the whole cranberry, where you can really taste the cranberries, or the jellied, and you know it's straight from the can because you can see the little lines. Some people like to mess it up by putting walnuts or something in there, but I like the real, pure cranberry sauce. You don't like cranberry sauce? I didn't like it when I was a kid either. Cranberry sauce is kind of sour. It leaves that sour cranberry taste in your mouth. Can you think of anything in your life that leaves a sour taste in your mouth? Like doing your homework? Or cleaning your room? Some things in life leave a sour taste in your mouth, but God gives them to you so that you will learn something. The sour things in life can be good for you. What I like about cranberry sauce is that on Thanksgiving we give thanks for something sour. I've actually gotten to like it over the years, and maybe you will too, just like someday you'll appreciate all that you learned in school, or having a clean room. Let's pray.

Lord God, thank you for the cranberry sauce of life.  Amen.
