Sermon Title: "An Extreme Makeover"

Scripture Reading: Luke 8:26-39

EXTREME MAKEOVER BAG GAME - Teams of 2 with a bag to take articles out and enjoy a MAKE OVER with various clothes items to put on; make up; hats, fancy shoes, etc. (Teachers might want to make sure they have a camera today!!)

MAKE OVER CAP VISORS:  Inexpensive visors can be purchased from Walmarts. Have markers available for children to write EXTREME MAKE OVER with TRUST IN JESUS underneath and the Bible verse - II Cor. 5:17. Encourage children to decorate the cap with crosses, hearts or flowers!

EXTREME CLASSROOM MAKE OVER - Teacher can choose a theme and have supplies on hand for a classroom make over by the children that could be their new classroom for a month. I suggest a Patriotic make over because of July 4th etc), but other suggestions for fun would be a jungle theme, camping out, tropical, sports, western, dinosaurs/creation, etc. Supplies could include posters, caps, visors, bandannas, tents, costumes, necklaces, rainbows, bubbles, flags, paper bag vests, etc. .... Discussion about extreme make overs from the inside out, like Jesus does make overs.

PIGS PLAY ACTING..... The teacher can purchase a mini pigs game or plastic mini pigs in a bag. As the story is told, have the children push their pigs over the table and into a bucket of water that will be on the floor! Children can play act - running out of the room to tell the "town" what they had just seen. Discussion about the man who was no longer possessed by the evil spirits so that his make over was complete!!!

EXTREME MAKE OVER TABLE - Have several places around the room with various supplies for kids to use in taking turns getting one thing each to decorate the large poster-person on the wall. On the table would be happy eyes cut out, nice clean shirt and pants, nice shoes, combed hair; smile; a nice hat, and a smiling HEART, etc. The children will take an item off the poster-person that is bedraggled or sad or in bad shape and will replace it with something from the Extreme makeover table!

EXTREME MAKE OVER COOKIE - Children could quickly decorate a plain sugar cookie with colored frosting, sprinkles, mini candies, etc, for the SS treat!
