Mighty Men of God: Joshua
Sermon Title: "Mighty Men of God: Joshua"
Scripture Reading: Joshua 1:1-24:15
Bring the children to a large designated area where they can march around in a circle 7 times as Joshua did on the 7th day of marching around JERICHO. The children should shout and pretend to blow horns a described in the Bible story.
AS FOR ME AND MY HOUSE SPONGE PAINTING:
Let the children use colored markers and write today's Bible verse "As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord". Use sponges and tempera paints to paint around the edges of the poster and memory verse.
AS FOR ME AND MY HOUSE CRAFT STICKS:
Use craft sticks to form the outline of a house and let the children write "As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord" inside the house. The sticks may be colored or painted before gluing onto the poster board if desired.
THE WALL CAME TUMBLING DOWN:
Give each child small squares made of black or gray paper. Have the children build a WALL on a piece of construction paper, with each square glued to the paper to form the wall of Jericho. Decorate the piece of paper by drawing trees, clouds, and the sun to complete the picture.
Give each child a sheet of construction paper or card stock paper to roll from the corner of the paper to the other side to make it look like a horn for blowing at the Battle of Jericho. A thin rope can be glued at each end to form a strap to carry the horn over their shoulders.
SERVE THE LORD BOOKMARK:
A bookmark can be cut out and decorated with colored markers and stickers. Encourage children to write I WILL SERVE THE LORD! HE ALONE IS OUR GOD!
