Summary of this sermon...

Living the Christian life is like sugar - sweet, good, and pure. We should be nice to others, live a life that brings joy, and be pure in heart through Jesus. Philippians 4:8 reminds us to think on things that are true, honest, just, pure, lovely, and of good report. Activities include a full lesson plan, maze, word search, fill-in-the-blank, cryptogram, and decoder to help children understand this sweet lesson.

Children what do I have in my hand today - that's right it's sugar. What can you tell me about sugar? It's sweet, good to the taste, and it's pure. That's right boys and girls.

Now think about this in the way we should live for Jesus. First, we need to be sweet. That is we need to be nice to people, treat them good, not to get angry with them. Secondly, just as the sugar is good to eat, we need to live our life the same way. Oh, that would be a funny sight, people trying to eat us to see if we were good tasting! But the way we live does leave a joyful feeling (good taste) or bad taste (figuratively) with others. and lastly, sugar is pure. How can we be pure? Wow, you sure are smart today! We are pure because Jesus has come to live in our hearts, making us clean. Let us pray: Dear Lord, let us be sweet as sugar, a joy to be around, and pure in our heart. Amen
