Today I want to talk to you about cookie cutters. This week as I was making cookies, I thought, “These gingerbread men have a story to tell!” Raise your hand if you have ever helped to use a cookie cutter to make cookies. It’s fun, isn’t it?
First you make your dough.(Have small ball of dough ready to roll out and demonstrate) Next you need to roll the dough out until it is very thin. Do you know what this is called? A rolling pin. It’s heavy and smooth. Finally , you cut the cookie shapes out like this…
We’re going to pull a “Martha Stewart” trick and fast forward to the finished product. Everyone needs a gingerbread man cookie, but don’t eat it yet because you remember I said these cookies have a story to tell.
Look carefully at y our cookies. Are they all the same color? Are they all the same shape? Are they all the same size? Do you think I used a cookie cutter? Yes ,I did.
Now, look at the friends around you. Is our hair all the same color? What about our eyes? Are we all the same size?
Now here is the big question of the day- Who made you? You? You?
Did God use a cookie cutter? NO. Each of you is one of a kind- God’s special design. If he wanted us all to look alike, he would have made us that way. Instead, he took the time to make you just the way you are, AND you are precious in his sight!
Let these cookies remind you that God didn’t use a cookie cutter when he made you and that he loves you just the way you are!
If God wanted us all to look alike, he would have used a cookie cutter!
Dear God, We thank you ….for making each of us special… in our own way. Amen
