(Read The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle. You can let the kids chime in the refrain, "he was still hungry!" Have fun with it.) Did you know that the butterfly is a symbol for Jesus? Why do you think that is? Because Jesus rose from the grave like a caterpillar emerging out of its coccoon. The caterpillar has a new life as a butterfly and Jesus gives us all new life, because he rose from the dead. So this Easter, let's be thankful that God gives us butterflies to remind us of Jesus and the new life he makes possible.
Lord God, thank you for giving us butterflies that teach us about Jesus. Amen.
