Cheers to Jeers - Good Friday
Use this animated video to teach kids about Good Friday. This video explores the stark contrast between the cheers Jesus received on Palm Sunday to the jeers he got on Good Friday when he was crucified.
The crowds that went ahead of him and those that followed shouted, "Hosanna to the Son of David!" "Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!" "Hosanna in the highest!" (Matthew 21:9) | "Which of the two do you want me to release to you?" asked the governor. "Barabbas," they answered. "What shall I do, then, with Jesus who is called Christ?" Pilate asked. They all answered, "Crucify him!" "Why? What crime has he committed?" asked Pilate. But they shouted all the louder, "Crucify him!" (Matthew 27:21-23)
Join the disciples John and Peter as they discuss how things went from the best times with Jesus on Palm Sunday to denying they know Him on Friday. Peter feels remorse for his actions but he reflects about how Jesus still loves the guards who arrested Him, the soldiers who beat Him, the soldiers who nailed Him to the cross, and His friends who denied Him.
