Sermon Title: "When God Calls Your Name"

Scripture Reading: 1 Samuel 3:1-10

"HERE I AM" GAME: Have children gather around together in the classroom or a designated area. Blindfold one child and turn around a few times. Have the other children, call out HERE AM I! Then the blindfolded child will try to tag one of the children. The tagged child can sit out and watch the game and continue to play until only one child has not been tagged. THAT child will be the blindfolded child and play the game again!

"COME, FOLLOW ME" GAME: Let children play follow the leader, taking turns to say, COME, FOLLOW ME and leading the other children in various jumps, hops, skips, etc. Children could have an obstacle course between chairs and under pews or around trees, etc, for children to follow them. Take turns being the leader to follow!

NAME GAME: Let children say a name from the Bible and the other classmates can try to say something that they know about that name. Children can also say their OWN name and something about themselves that they think no one else knows about them!

NAME TAGS: Give children supplies to make a name tag out of card stock paper and hang their name tags around their necks with yarn or string. Children can write HERE AM I, LORD and sign their names on their own name tags. Decorate their name tag with stickers or glitter pens, etc.

NAME BOOKLET: Give children small pieces of paper to staple or clip or tie together. Write HERE AM I, LORD on the cover of their Name Booklet and then draw or write a name on each page, from our Bible lesson today, such as Moses, Samuel, Zacchaeus, Paul, and the child's name on one page as well. One page could have a drawing of little children and let children know today that GOD calls children as well as adults to serve Him!

NAME CALLING: The teacher can let the children know that during the classtime today, she will be calling a child's name and when they hear THEIR name being called, they can jump up and say, HERE AM I, and she can direct them to the candy box for a treat! Make sure that all the childrens' names are called before classtime is over! OR, the teacher can call their name and when they jump up and say HERE AM I, the teacher could give the child something to do in the classroom (such as write THEIR name on the chalkboard, or add a sticker on the NAME POSTER, etc.

"I WILL LISTEN" ART: Give children a LARGE EAR picture cut out from construction paper and let children glue that ear picture to another piece of construction paper. On one part of the paper, have children write, LORD, I WILL LISTEN FOR YOUR CALL. On another part of the ear or the paper, write HERE AM I, LORD! Let children write a short prayer of their own or for younger children, the teacher could have short prayers typed out and let children glue that to their picture.

LISTENING CIRCLE: The teacher can start a phrase or short sentence and whisper that into the first child's ear. Then that child will whisper what they heard into the next child's ear, and go around the circle until the last child whispers the sentence in the teacher's ear and see if it matches what the teacher started out whispering! Play again if time allows. Children will listen carefully in order to hear what to tell the next player in the circle!

TELEPHONE LISTENING: Give each child a toilet paper roll and let them cover it with construction paper and decorate as a telephone. Have children write on the paper before it is glued to the toilet paper roll, I WILL LISTEN WHEN THE LORD CALLS ME. and write their own names on the "roll" in various colors! Tell children to divide up into groups of 2 and whisper today's Bible verse or something that they learned from today's lesson to their teammate!
