Sermon Title: "The Spirit of Christmas"

Scripture Reading: Luke 3:9-11

SHARING GAME:

The teacher will place post it notes all around the room (in obvious places, as well as under tables, chairs, etc) with "SHARING" written on each note. The Children will find the notes and stick them on a wall or on the chalk board as they tell one way they could SHARE with others this Christmas.

SHARING IS LOVE:

Have the children place small items from a DOLLAR STORE or little things that the teacher has collected for them into a small box. The children will then wrap the box for giving to someone in need.

SHARING IN MOTION:

The teacher will provide small cookies, treats, or gifts that the children will wrap to share with others rather than keep for themselves! Small pieces of individually wrapped candy placed inside toilet paper rolls, wrapped, and tied with ribbons at the end of the gift is FUN for kids!

SHARING MAKES ME HAPPY:

The teacher will provide BELLS cut from construction paper for the children. The children will make their own THUMB PRINTS using tempera paint on the BELLS. After the paint is dry. The children will draw little happy face designs on their thumb print and write on bell -- SHARING makes me happy!

SHARING SNOWFLAKES:

Each child can cut out a snowflake and decorate and write SHARING WITH OTHERS, or some phrase suggested by the teacher or students. These could be hung around the room for decoration. For instructions for folding the paper for making a snowflake CLICK HERE. When the folding is complete, cut out pieces along the folds to make your snowflake design.

SNACKS:

Give each child two small bags of Christmas candy with the instructions that they are to share one of the bags of candy to someone who has none.

Christmas Is Sharing

The best gift of all is not under the tree, The gift of God's love sent to you and to me. God sent us his own Son from heaven above; To show us, his children, the meaning of love.

So, let us remember that this time of year Is all about sharing with those God holds dear. To share what we have with the hungry and cold Is the same as to share it with Jesus we're told.
