This Pumpkin Prayer from Courtney Kirk is a wonderful activity to share with kids. As you lead them in the Pumpkin Prayer, you can carve the pumpkin yourself. Or kids can carve along with you if you have enough adult supervision. Another idea for kids to enjoy this Pumpkin Prayer is to use markers as they decorate a real or paper pumpkin.

Open my mind so I can learn about you.

Cut the top off the pumpkin and read Luke 24:45.

Take away my sin and forgive the wrong that I do.

Clean out the inside and read 1 John 1:9.

Open my eyes so your love I will see.

Cut out eyes (like hearts if you can) and read Psalm 119:18.

I’m sorry for times I’ve turned up my nose at what you’ve given me.

Cut out a nose and read Psalm 126:3.

Open my ears so your Word I will hear.

Cut out ears and read Luke 11:28.

Open my mouth to tell others you’re near.

Cut out the mouth and read Psalm 96:3.

Let your light shine in all I say and do.

Place a candle inside, light it and read Matthew 5:16.

Amen.
